MAMT
is a professional and educational association, affiliated with Manitoba
Teachers’ Society as a Special Area Group. Members are dedicated
to improving math education and to meeting the needs of Manitoba
Teachers through various professional development activities.
Purpose:
To
encourage discussions and exchange of information among mathematics
teachers in order to assist teachers in forming opinions about
matters affecting the teaching of mathematics
To provide professional development services to the teachers of
mathematics
To stimulate improvement in the quality of mathematics education
throughout the province.
To
furnish recommendations and advice to the Manitoba Teachers’
Society, Manitoba Education Citizenship and Youth, Manitoba Universities
and other groups designated by the Executive
To promote and disseminate research in mathematics education
Through
the Manitoba Teachers’ Society, to inform the public of developments
in mathematics education.
